As the club has lots of money (£25,000 est.) we think that it could be put to use to improve the club. The money is just sat there doing nothing and if anything happened to the club then it would all just disappear to the ASA. One way that we think this money could be used is to set up a water polo club within the swimming club. Some of the money can be spent purchasing proper nets, balls and extra pool time, not necessarily at Garstang. This would not only be a fun activity but it also has numerous positive effects upon the club and the swimmers. For the swimmers it will improve sprints and general fitness. It will however necessitate a slight increase in the total monthly membership fee, but overall the cost per session will work out to be cheaper. The benefits to the club will be an increase in members as the water polo will make the club more desirable to swimmers from other clubs and this increased membership will bring even more money into club.
We also think that to further improve the fitness and ability of the swimmers, organised land training sessions should be set up either at the high school or at the sports centre.
All of the above will improve what the club has to offer, this will make the club more desirable to swimmers at other clubs and to prospective swimmers. This will give the club a higher status and improve the overall competitive ability of the club.
Some of the money could also be spent upon a ‘Coach Mentoring Scheme’. In this scheme the club pays for the qualification and the training, and the person who the training and qualifications were for works for more hours than the cost of the qualification / training to pay the club back.

So that you all know the next committee meeting is on the 8th of June so we can put it to the righteous authority there. And I didn’t put on the bit about better training sessions because Ian Kirk has already said that we can write our own if we want. If you want to add anything or think any of it should be changed or removed then let me know.
